Samsung NV24HD digital camera review : At the beginning of last year, Samsung made itself heard by introducing a whole new series of digital compact cameras. However, the second half of last year proved to be the opposite. Samsung reaches its market share in the entry-level segment with ease, and is able to obtain excellent sales numbers. The higher and somewhat more expensive segment seems to cause the Korean electronics giant some problems. Of course, it is a crowded segment and Samsung battles many renowned camera brands with lots of experience. Book Review: iSlurp - Drinks and Light Fare, All Day, All Night/i by Nina Dreyer Hensley, Jim Hensley, and Paul Løwe

pNorwegian Nina Dreyer Hensley and her North American transplant partner Jim Hensley are photographers based out of Oslo. Along with stylist Paul Loslash;we, the pair have contributed to several magazines and have created more than 15 cookbooks. Slurp - Drinks and Light Fare - All Day, All Night is their latest, and it is 176 pages of pure food porn./p pBy quot;food pornquot; I mean photographs of food that are hyper-real and cause the reader to involuntarily head to the kitchen to attempt to recreate the beauties displayed in the book. Slurp plays the role of an art book in as much as it is a cookbook, and it is more likely to be found on coffee tables than in the kitchen./p pThe book is broken up into four main sections, beginning with drink accessories. These are things like fancy ice cubes with items frozen into them that will compliment your drinks, such as fruit or herbs. Drink accessories also covers barware basics, from simple syrups to cocktail shakers./p pThe other three sections are for drinks and snacks to cover the morning, daytime, and evening. Each recipe is illustrated with tantalizing images of the product, emphasizing that this book is more about the images than the recipes, so you may want to test them before dazzling your friends and family./p pMost of the drink recipes in Slurp are alcohol based, as one might expect from a book with a Captain Nemo martini on the cover. However, there are many non-alcoholic recipes that are family-friendly and fun, albeit mainly located in the quot;morningquot; section of the book./p pRecipes aside, the main draw of this book is the presentation. The photographs are fine examples of how to do it right, and combined with the layout and typography, one could read the book from cover to cover and be satisfied with consuming the contents visually. As a fan of macro photography, this book is right up my alley. The photos not only illustrate the food and drinks outlined in the recipes, they also present the items in a different perspective than what one might have at a cocktail party./p br

Canon releases firmware update for PowerShot G10

Canon has released a firmware update for the PowerShot G10 compact camera. Version 1.0.2.0 rectifies the occurrence of a magenta cast when RAW images are captured at ISO 1600 in continuous shooting mode or in single shooting mode with the monitor switched off. The fix only affects cameras with a serial number within a range specified by Canon.

Nikon Unveil New Coolpix Range

Nikon today have announced a range of 7 new digital cameras. They range from the budget through to more expensive and feature rich models.

Nikon Coolpix P90 - a super-zoom camera with a 24x optical zoom.
Nikon Coolpix L100 (another super-zoom camera).
Nikon Coolpix S630 - 12MP with a 7x optical zoom.
Nikon Coolpix S620 - 12MP, 4x optical zoom.
Nikon Coolpix S230 - 10MP with a 3x optical zoom lens.
Nikon Coolpix S220 - 10MP with 3x optical zoom.
Nikon Coolpix L19 and Nikon Coolpix L20 - 8 and 10MP respectively - both with 3.6x optical zoom - budget cameras.

All of these Nikon Coolpix cameras come with a range of scene modes and features including smile and blink detection and Motion detection.
